Training, tea, and top chefs

Posted

The Royals have a successful Tuesday (18/7) in China behind them. The boys have done a lot of laughing, chatting, and cooking in between training sessions.

Spinning in the morning, football in the afternoon

Guido Burgstaller’s training team gave him the option of using the spinning bikes after their exercises, and the Austrian striker and his teammates took them up on their offer. Asked with a wink whether they were training for the Tour de France, they made it very clear that they had no intentions of giving up football for cycling.

The afternoon saw the Royals take to the training pitch for the first time in China. There, Bastian Oczipka made his training-debut in Schalke colours. The new signing from Frankfurt has settled in to the team well and enjoyed the session with his new teammates. The left-back will wear the number 24 for Schalke 04.

Tea tasting with Chinese fans

Ralf Fährmann, Weston McKennie, Daniel Caligiuri, Naldo, and Matija Nastasic enjoyed spending time with fans by trying a variety of different tea flavours. The group of Royal Blues were startled at the range of teas on offer and enjoyed conversing with their supporters from the Far East whilst relaxing in a cozy atmosphere. In addition, they learned all about the taste, smell, and colour of the infusion that gives a cup of tea its quality.

Chef Coke in the kitchen

Coke and Benjamin Stambouli aren’t just adept on the football field – the duo also has a hidden talent in the form of their culinary skills in the kitchen. The two of them cooked Chinese dumplings along with the team hotel’s chefs, with Erwin on hand to give them his support. The mascot was also hard at work in the kitchen and ultimately had the cooks crying with laughter! The fruit of their labour was clear to see – or taste rather. Numerous players were impressed at the delicacies that Coke and Stambouli had created.
