Alessandro Schöpf extends contract to 30th June 2021

Another first teamer extends his contract at Schalke: Alessandro Schöpf's new contract sees him stay at the club for an additional two years until June 2021.

“I’m proud to be able to wear the FC Schalke 04 shirt. I feel at home here as part of the team and want to be at this club for years to come,” said the midfielder. “I think we’re heading in the right direction and our development has a long way to go yet. This team is a good one to be a part of on and off the field.”

Domenico Tedesco explained: “Schöpfi is almost the complete player. He’s hard-working and always puts the effort in. He’s also got technical ability, can score goals and is a good person.” Christian Heidel added: “Alessandro is someone who is highly valued by us. Therefore, we’re delighted to be able to work with him for the foreseeable future.”

The Austria international joined the Royal Blues from 1. FC Nürnberg in the winter of the 2015/2016 season. Since then, the 24-year-old has featured 68 times for S04, scoring on 11 occasions. His performances at Schalke saw him enter the national team set-up where he’s played 13 times with one goal.
